The BUILDING One product is a new-generation facilities and cable management tool, using as its underlying technology, an Object-oriented Geographic Information System (GIS).
This approach is revolutionizing building management throughout Europe by providing a powerful, open and coherent alternative to the « hybrid » CAD-RDB linkage applications that have dominated the FM market for several years. These linked products, inherently complex in their structure, have shown themselves unable to solve the integration and coherency problems confronting managers of todays buildings.
Originally specified and designed by Digital Equipment Europe to meet the operating demands of its own facilities, BUILDING One has evolved into a total integrated information system capable of managing such diverse aspects of a building as cabling infrastructure, building layout and space allocation, asset-tracking, Voice & Data network connectivity, Moves, adds and changes, badges and access zones, power distribution systems, lighting, occupant positions and ownership, charge-back billing, telephone directories, inventories and inter-building cabling and electrical systems.
A BUILDING One database contains all site plans and building floor plans that the client wishes to manage in a single geographical database. With all of his data stored in one unique database, the client can at last attain true integrated information management for his facilities.
